Reflection

The tool that I enjoy doing the most was the photostory, it was fun being able create a story using old photos and being able to add your voice and music into it. I had a great idea on how I could get my students to bring photos of their family and friends and have them record themselves talking about how their family is and the things that they enjoy doing together. I could make their video and have them present it to the class. I think this will help them in their public speaking skills and also they will see the cool fun things that they can do using technology.

Doing this course has though me that the chalk board is something from the past, no longer do teachers have to limit themselves on how they might present a lesson to their students. Now instead of standing in the classroom writing on a board you can have them see a video that you made or that you can easily find online.

What has surprise me more about this online course are the new expectations that we now have for our student when it comes to learning and knowing how to use technology in the classroom and at home at such a young age. I feel that this new expectations on our students are very demanding specially on our younger students to be able to comprehend and learn to use the online world, but I also feel that by they doing so they will have a much brighter future then other past generations

Tool# 11 Digital Citizenship

Digital citizenship is another great resource for our students but in order for them to used this resource to their advantage both teachers and parents will have to collaborate to show and teach students on how to use this great resource responsibly.

Students need to learn that online networking can be as much dangerous as it can be helpful.
Students must learn that they cannot share their private information with others while their networking. They must also know which types of pages they are allow to visit and the ones which they cannot, parental supervision will be require in my opinion to assure that students will be able to understand and carry this two very important tasks at home. Last but not least students must understand that they need to be respectful to others while they are networking the same way that they are in class. All rules in the classrooms apply at home when they are working online.

Tool# 10 Exploring Mobile Technology and Apps

I don't own an ipod or an itouch but i found that some of their amps would be great for the students to use them as learning tools, at the same time they will feel as if there playing a game which will make learning for them easier and fun.

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/alphabet-tracing/id374493089?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D2 Alphabet tracing is a fun app were the students can trace letters and numbers.

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/free-spanish-essentials-by/id309491028?mt=8&ign-mpt=uo%3D2 This app would be great for kids and bilingual classes, it can help them to understand both their native language and English.

Tool# 9 Shering Infromation Through Jing and Skype

I have never used Jing or Skype but they sound like very helpful resources for both students and teachers. With Jing a teacher could make an educational video to share with both students and other teachers. Skype would be a good resource for students to use in case they were to either miss school or if there away from home, the could connect with there peers and steel be able to work on school work.

Tool# 8 Video Resources

Life Cycle of Flowering Plant

I have always used youtube to find videos to show my class, I found a video about the alphabet in Spanish were they can sign along, hear and see the correct pronunciation and spelling of the letter. I also used teachertube to find a video about the different cycles of a plant, this is both educational and entertaining for them.

Tool #7 Digital Story Telling

This was without a doubt the most fun and interesting tool that i have done, I'm so exited and looking forward to making more videos. I feel that this will be a great way to teach a lesson, instead of me talking on front of the classroom I can just have the students watch a video with the same information that I would regularly give them but with music and fun pictures to capture their attention.

Tool #6 Wikis

I have used wikepidia several times to find out random facts about things that interest me but now i can see how me and the teachers in my school can use it to our benefits. For example when it comes to planing out activities such as a field day, open houses or trips that we may take during the school year. Using a wiki for this things will help us save time and be more organize with our planing.
